I had an ‘05 GT. It was one of the first S197s in my city and got a lot of attention for a while which was not great for an introvert like me. Still, it was a lot of fun.

They were a very clean design, still looks fresh.
Plus, they came in some great colors:

I had this ‘06 4.0 V6 w/ 5 speed manual... I still love the way it looks (looked?). If this would have been a perfect world, I would have kept it when I got my ‘14 3.7 V6 PP instead of trading it in. However, like I’ve said before, the ‘14 was arguably a better car in every way, except I preferred the styling of the ‘06. The ‘14 has since been traded for a ‘17 GT, and once again it is arguably a better car in every way.
Still, I would love to have another ‘06 like this one... but a Coyote swap would be a hoot...

If you can find one with the padding above the door armrests 100% intact, go for it (if it checks out otherwise).

I can’t afford one, plus I have nowhere to keep it. But it’s nice to dream.

That one pictured is perfect! That’d be a rad car to have!

I was 5 years old in fall 2004, I’ve wanted one ever since.

Mine came lose, but a good upholstery shop can fix for a few bucks and an hour.

I really miss my S197, it was a 2005 GT Convertible. Only problem was it was an automatic, but sometimes used car buyers can’t be too picky, but if I had to do it again, I would have looked longer for a manual.
My car before that was a VW Jetta S, and I can tell you the character and smile factor was night and day. I still remember driving that thing home from the dealer, with the top down and the burble of that V8 in my ears. Oh man the happiness, probably more enjoyable than any other car I’ve taken home for the first time.
My car however was not without issues, it originally belonged to the wife of the dealership owner, so I suspect it was driven hard and put away wet. It was the first year of the convertible S197, so the chassis flex was more than later years, the hood shook above 60 mph, and putting gas was a pain in the ass, I had to put the pump in upside down so it didn’t click off prematurely. I noticed my Brother’s 2007 had none of these issues, rock solid.
However, I still remember cruising with the top down at night, sound of that V8 and exhaust, cool wind open riding, man, got to get me another one! Probably recommend a 2007 or newer, you can pick up decent coupes for $5700 or so.
